With pre-season testing finished in Valencia, its high time we discussed all that the worlds first single-seater electric Championship will have to offer.
Some questions to generate discussion:

  • Who will win the Drivers and Constructers championship?
  • Who will be dark horses?
  • Who won silly season? Who lost?
  • Who is the most underrated driver on the grid?
  • What about the rookie field? How will Daruvala fare?
  • Nyck de Vries. Thats the point
  • Which team has the best and worst livery?
  • What race are you looking forward too most?
  • Are you going to any races?
  • Is ERT just trying to become NEXTEV?

TNT Sport have taken over coverage rights from Channel 4 in the UK, bringing to an end 9 years of free-to-view racing. Tom Brooks, of GTWS fame, will become full-time lead commentator, after calling races in Rome and London last year. Joining him on the TNT team will be fan favourites such as Nicki Shields, Radzi Chinyanganya and Dario Franchitti, former drivers such as Karun Chandhok and Andre Lotterer and David Coulthard cause why not?

(and Jermaine Jenas, who nobody likes)

Awful decision to go PPV. And why they’ve chosen Jermaine Jenas I don’t know.

Its sad how Formula E has fallen off the last couple of years, as I type this their biggest race of the year is just finishing at Monaco and nobody seems to be watching or care. In the UK at least moving coverage to pay TV has nuked the audience and whilst I can't begrudge them firing Jack Nicholls (I'm not sure what the allegations were exactly but they must have been serious to fire the main man) losing Dario was a big blow too, what used to be a really fun commentary box now sounds more like a local radio station.

Fingers crossed the Gen3 Evo improves the racing for next year, if the cars really are less draggy it should get away from the pack racing we've seen so far and back closer to the good stuff we saw in Gen2.

Yeah mate it’s a shame. Also coming from the UK the move to TNT Sport has been a huge blow, but FE CEO Jeff Dodds said in a recent episode of The Race Formula E Podcast that he is in negotiations with TNT to find ways to make some races free to air. As somebody who had it previously, I had no problems with it but for people in a cost of living crisis that can’t afford to shell £30 a month it’s a real pain. It does feel FE has lost the thing that made it so appealing in the first place.

That would be nice, I bet the viewing numbers on TNT are horrific given they were already so low on Channel 4 they didn't put most of the races on actual TV.
