F1 2021 Revealed, Arrives July 16 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PCF1 2021

Nice. Seems to match up with the leaks we saw earlier this month. Looking forward to finding out more.

Somewhat disappointing, that Imola, Portimao and Jeddah will be post launch content. F1 2021 won't have the 2021 season, at launch, halfway through 2021.

I know the tracks take a long time to model, and they were only confirmed recently, so that's probably why. Plus COVID, although it isn't much of an obstacle compared to the beginning

I get that but with SMS under Codemasters stables with fully modelled Inola and Portimao circuits, I'd imagine there must be a way to get them working in the CM engine. It seems pretty fundamental to me that a licensed racing game should accurately portray the season.

Like you say though, if they couldn't use the circuits available to them then it will take more time but to me its just an absolute no go on day 1 as I don't see the point if it isn't actually up to date.

I have nothing but bad feelings about this, considering Codemasters' owners. What if Casino Mechanics are added in after the critics gave out their reviews?

I don’t see them adding anything other than what we’ve seen in F1 2020. Plus outside of mobile gaming loot boxes don’t seem to be used much these days.

Yeah it is rather annoying, but I'm still excited about PS5 features as well as two player career mode at least. Plus there's also the possibility of classic tracks making a return

I'm starting to feel like all the premature doom and gloom around EA's ownership is becoming a bit of a bUt WhAt aBoUt eA type situation...

Players who pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition get three days’ early access, along with 18,000 PitCoins and seven “iconic F1 drivers” for use in My Team mode. All pre-orders get a bonus Braking Point Content Pack, which brings a set of exclusive in-game items and 5,000 PitCoins.

The use of PitCoins makes me fear this is going to be monetised to hell and back.

Online two player career with cross play would be amazing. I think the cross play part is asking for too much, though. My buddy and I are already talking about setting up a weekly race at a set time, almost like club schedule.

I hope not. If that is what we can expect for the next Codemasters titles under EA then i won't spend a cent on F1-2021, Dirt 6, Dirt Rally 3 and Grid 3. I have all the current versions of these games but won't support the crappy tactics of EA to grab money from players. "Surprise mechanics" they say...

FYI this isn't the first F1 title to have pitcoins. Like I get people want to just hate EA and stuff but Codemasters have been monetising games for years.

I do not mind DLCs, but digital currencies, packs (FIFA icons!) and all gambling tactics nope. EA is way worse than Codemasters... or was.... Codemasters is now also launching Racing Master for mobile platforms and unfortunately seems its following EA steps here as well (Need for Speed No Limits)...

What happened to Grid 2?

That was my thought as well. F1 2020 was the first F1 game I played in years & while I haven't played in a couple months, I specifically remember there being pitcoins you can purchase to unlock things.

But, I believe the game also gives them out to you as you play & all the items you can purchase with them are purely cosmetic liveries, clothing, or animations, iirc. Nothing about the game's mechanics or rewards is locked behind a paywall as far as I have progressed through a couple seasons.

I'd also like for continuation of MyTeam; to have the choice (interchangable throughout the career) to drive or take actual management role (pick other driver to replace yourself, making it 2 AI drivers, and coach them in race). And other than picking up teammates, also allow to pick Test Drivers for more resource points etc. Implement team orders too where if you do that it'll cause damage to the team's reputation. Hire/fire pit crew staff too with varying stats from making some mistakes on pit stop or having Red Bull-like competency in pit stops. And for the most ambitious one have a merged career mode where you can both make a team or join other teams (ex: Spend some seasons building budget from joining other teams, then after you had enough money make your own team).

Though I wonder what's the difference for Braking Point compared to usual Career Mode which also had a bit of F2 progression.

I can't wait to see what this will look like on the next gen consoles....I hope they use the power to the fullest.

So they confirmed on the official forum that the current tracks won't have the real life changes, Australia for example has a a new corner made and also confirmed not all new tracks will be in the game at launch.

Yet they have increased the price over last year. But hey its got a really 1980's style cheese fest story mode

The new story mode and the way they describe getting iconic drivers for my team sound very much like EA pushing codies down the Madden path. I won't be surprised if in 2022 the iconic drivers and drivers in general for my team are completely card pack gambling.

"Buy a platinum driver card pack for only 5000 pitcoins!! A platinum card pack guarantees at least one platinum driver!"

For anyone stressing over the EA thing, this might put you at ease a little bit. This was posted Ross Gowing from Codemasters regarding the Dirt Rally series just before Christmas, in response to similar concerns. I imagine, with F1 being an even more successful yearly title, that it'll be a similar situation.

Just popped in to have a read before I break up for Christmas tomorrow and have realised I'm probably a bit late to the party on folks worrying about everything to do with the takeover. I can't go into massive (any) amounts of detail, and you might well think I'm just blowing hot air to calm people down, but my honest message is that you have nothing to worry about.

I've been in a lot of meetings about the future of DiRT Rally and our team this year, and have never had any indication that me or any of my fellow Directors and Leads will be asked to betray how we want to represent rallying for you. We won't always be able to control everything related to the publishing and business side of things (we're the development team, so whilst we have a voice in discussions ultimately we trust our colleagues who are specialists in those areas) but when it comes to how a car goes down a stage that's firmly in our control.

A phrase I've kept being told (in one wording or another) in presentations and meetings with external parties related to the takeover has been 'we can see the quality of the game the team has made, and the passion the studio has for rallying, and we don't want to mess with that'. I'm certainly planning to keep doing what we've been doing and I've got no-one in my ear trying to persuade me otherwise.

So with that I'll wish you all a Happy Christmas/Holidays/Etc, take care of yourselves and your loved ones, and here's to 2021.

Does anyone else get put off by the game being released almost half way through the F1 season?
This is the only sport game I see doing this.

Its not a new concept for F1 games to release part way through the season.

I’m aware it’s not new for the F1 games. To me it would make more sense at the beginning of the season. Like all of the other sport games I can think of.

I'm pretty sure I'll get this but it won't be the Deluxe Edition this time since there's nothing in it that appeals to me. If it's not additional cars or tracks I don't have any use for it since I only do solo races and I don't do career modes.
